Forged love handcrafted bangle on woman

Mckenna Morrison

For as long as I can remember I wanted to be an artist. However, being influenced by 'standard' career choices, I found myself pursuing an education in Dental Technologist. There was so much I learned in my field of work however, my creative spirt was calling for something new.

Clients desires have become a focus of inspiration for my work. As of late one of the most rewarding experiences has been taking clients old jewelry, removing stones and melting down the provided gold; rolling out the metal and creating a completely new ring using all the components of the original piece. Although not always solely my design, nostalgia associated with reworking a piece that holds so much value to a customer, satisfies amd drives my passion.

  • This passion has great impact on my artistic practice. Everyday I want to delve more into different disciplines of gold smithing. This isn't just my career, it's my livelihood. Gold-smithing consumes me. I think of designs while I run, dance or play piano. As a mountain girl I retreat to these activities for reflection, whether it's snowboarding or hiking, the fresh mountain air clears my mind helping me see the next progression in my design.

Everyday I look forward to my lifelong journey of becoming a famous jewellery designer. I've heard it said that within every person, a fire burns. A burning of passion and desire. Desire that manifests in countless hours of thought and exploration through experience and past endeavours. I hope that when all is said and done, I can look back on this journey, and reflect on all the smiles, joy, and beauty I have created.
